Initially, student Brunno Fernandes would like to participate in the design and construction of a sports car known as Locost, a replica of the Lotus Super Seven, very famous in the United Kingdom. However, at the end of 2013, Professor Doutor Sigeo Kitanani Júnior suggested to the student that he develop Baja at UFG, for having an academic nature, helping to train students and better prepare them for the job market. The idea was welcomed by the student who sought out other car enthusiasts to form the first BAJA team at UFG.

In April 2014, an unnamed team started as Baja's planning, research and development activities at UFG. In September of the same year, construction began on the first prototype with the available resources. The team became part of the "Implanting Dreams: Developing Engineering" extension project in October 2014, approved by the EMC Board of Directors (Mechanical, Electrical and Computer Engineering Schools).
